Yesterday I mentioned that both Bush and Kerry would be campaigning in Davenport Iowa today, and I wondered who would draw the largest crowd.
Today I learned that Kerry’s event was actually an economic meeting with 150 business leaders while Bush was holding an open-air rally (ticketholders only, mind you). So it’s a bit of an apples-to-oranges thing, and anyway I can’t find any numbers for the Bush rally.
However, John Kerry also visitied Dubuque, Iowa, today:
Kerry spoke to a crowd of 4,700 jammed into a civic center with thousands more outside and unable to get in.
Not bad, eh? Also, a few enterprising souls took advantage of the tumult that resulted when both presidential candidates visited Dubuque, as three banks were robbed while the visits were ongoing.
