According to thehill, The Reverend Sun Myung Moon is undertaking an ambitious and diffuse campaign to influence members of Congress, their top foreign policy staffs and U.N. ambassadors with an ongoing series of junkets in New York, Jerusalem and on Capitol Hill. So, on the one hand, we have North Korea’s Dear Leader making lots of threatening nuclear noises. On the other, we have our own Dear Leader giving the keys to our government to the Korean Reverend Moon. It’s a toss-up which is going to be more destructive to democracy in the long run, as far as I’m concerned. It’s difficult to know how serious North Korea’s threats are. It isn’t difficult, however, to see how dangerous Moon’s influence on our government can be. Mix his brand of lunacy with the present fundie influence in Congress, and we’ve got us a whole heap of separation of church and state issues.
