From Holden:
Chimpy outdid himself this year. With two months yet to go in the fiscal year he has already set a new record for the federal budget deficit, $395.8 billion.
That figure is up 22% over the budget deficit for the first ten months of last fiscal year, and has already surpassed the record $374.3 billion the Chimpster set for the entirety of last year.
Unka Karl is bound to love this paragraph from the NYTimes:
The Bush administration is projecting that the deficit for all of the 2004 budget year, which ends Sept. 30, will be $445 billion. This year will mark the third consecutive budget deficit after four straight years of surpluses that reflected the economic boom of the 1990s.
