States don’t come redder than the one I was born in, Texas. However, support for Bush’s War on Iraq has slipped from 72 percent last year to just 56 percent this year. Fifty percent of Texans surveyed say that the War on Iraq has not made us safer.
Sixty-seven percent say progress in Iraq is “poor” or “fair,” while only 31 percent said our progress was “excellent” or “good.” Meanwhile, only 54 percent say progress in the War on Terra is “fair or poor.”
We Texans don’t feel very safe, either. Four out of five of us say terrorist attacks on the United States are likely in the next year, with most believing they will come before the Nov. 2 elections.
