Last week I claimed on more than one occasion that demographics would soon return Texas to the democratic fold. The fact is Texas will soon be a minority-majority state, meaning that at some point in the near future whites will no longer be in the majority here in my home state. It’s one of the reasons that the GOP pushed redistricting so hard last year, their last chance to dillute Hispanic electoral power.

Those counties in Texas that are already majority Hispanic, located along our border with Mexico, are solidly democratic and went for Kerry last week.

Today the WaPo’s Sylvia Moreno recognizes the trend in Dallas County, a bellweather for the state as a whole.

Once Texas enters the Big State Democrats club that already includes New York, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and California the GOP won’t stand a chance.
