Farewell Ossie Davis

From Holden:

Few performers with as much talent as Ossie Davis have had as much impact on civil rights in this country (Paul Robeson and Harry Belafonte leap to mind, I’m sure there are others who escape me at the moment). I remember Davis most endearingly as The Mayor in Spike Lee’s Do The Right Thing, but remembering him for a single role ignores his outstanding body of work as an actor, writer, and director, while remembering him soley as an actor neglects the vast horizon of a life lived well.

OK, that’s all I can say for now. Farewell.
