Yesterday in another fruitless search for My Bush Boom that noted the paltry 0.8 percent increase in productivity during the fourth quarter of 2004 I linked to an AP article anticipating the release of January’s job creation numbers.
On Friday, the government will report on unemployment in January. Many analysts are looking for the jobless rate to remain steady at 5.4 percent with businesses adding 200,000 workers to their payrolls, an improvement from the 157,000 jobs added in December.
To which my response was, “We’ll see if we added 200,000 jobs in January.”
Well, Friday is here, let’s see how the Bushboy did:
Nonfarm payroll employment increased by 146,000 in January and the unem- ployment rate decreased to 5.2 percent, the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the U.S. Department of Labor reported today.
Ooooo, not only did he fall 56,000 jobs short of the 200,000 new jobs “analysts” were predicting, he missed the 150,000 job break-even mark (as 150,000 new people enter the workforce each month in this country) by 4,000 jobs.
My advice to all you “analysts” out there making rosy predictions: pull your nose out of Chimpy’s ass and stick it in your local newspaper. Here in Austin (Texas, y’all) the help wanted section of our local rag used to compete with the local telephone directory during the Clinton years, it was that thick. But ever since the elevation of America’s Worst President there’s not enough paper there to wrap a dead fish.
I would put a photo of My Bush Boom on a milk carton if I knew what the son of a bitch looked like.
