Happy Democrat Photo: Dodd

Do I look like a bitch to you, Brad?

Democrats want the names of U.S. individuals mentioned in the intercepts that the National Security Agency gathered and that Bolton requested — and received — while he was the State Department’s chief arms control official.

Sen. Christopher Dodd (news, bio, voting record), D-Conn., turned down Roberts’ offer.

“For Senator Roberts to decide on our behalf what we should be concerned about is most unusual,” Dodd said.

Bolton is as representative a person as I’ve ever seen of the Bush Administration’s entire pathology: putting incompetent and irredeemable ideologues in positions of power, where they are shockingly ineffective in serving our national security (Rice, Feith, Wolfowitz, Negroponte, Bremer, ad nauseum). And Congressional Republicans enable this tendency when they rubber-stamp everything Bush wants and intimidate Democrats who don’t vote for his incompetents by claiming the Dems are weak on terror. You know what’s weak on terror? Promoting people who’ve failed to protect us. Promoting people who’ve alienated our allies and emboldened our enemies.

Stick this in your frame: Bolton at the UN makes us less safe. Don’t back down. Not one inch.
