Democratic Nation

From Holden:

During the month of May, 33.6% of Americans identified themselves as Republicans. That’s up slightly from 32.7% in April, but that’s not saying much. The April reading was the weakest performance for the GOP since our monthly reports began 29 months ago in January 2004.

The number of Democrats remained steady in May at 36.4%. The number of Americans unaffiliated with either major party declined slightly to 30.0%.

During 2006, the number of Democrats have remained quite stable, ranging from a low of 36.1% in January to a high of 36.7% in March. The number of Republicans has been a bit less stable, ranging from a high of 34.5% in January to a low of 32.7% in April.
