Dick Stiffs Idaho

Classy.

Local taxpayers will pay $3,500 for Vice President Dick Cheney’s Nov. 2 visit to this northern Idaho city to campaign for Republican candidates, despite GOP promises taxpayers wouldn’t get the bill. Officials with the city, as well as Kootenai County, say they will not ask the Republican Party of Idaho to reimburse them for expenses generated by the event, which was not open to the public.

State GOP Executive Director Jayson Ronk said the vice president’s visit wouldn’t cost Idaho taxpayers a penny. Now Ronk is declining to comment and instead referred questions about the costs to the White House. “That’s just our policy,” he said.

For the event, the local Republican central committee gave out tickets, but not to some people because they weren’t registered Republicans.

  1. Not surprised. Here in Boise, in Ada County, we’re picking up the tab for a visit from the Evil One last summer as he campaigned for Batshit Insane Bill Sali. Fuckers in Canyon County next door voted for that moron Sali, but Ada County, which is only partially in that congressional district and went for his opponent, gets to pick up the tab.
    Not to mention the nightmare of traffic he made as they CLOSED THE FUCKING INTERSTATE so his entourage, accompanied by an ambulance, fire truck, and every fucking city, county and state cop in the area could get from downtown to the airport.

    Not just classy, but illegal. Elected officials cannot use any taxpayer-provided resource for campaigning without reimbursing the government/the taxpayers. Remember the HUGE SCANDAL about which phone Al Gore used to make fundraising calls, his personal phone or his office phone? And every election year somebody gets slammed for using the congressional postal meter instead of buying stamps for fundraising letters.
    When are these assholes going to be held to that standard? Or any standard?

    Of course it’s illegal – but they don’t care. Just like they will never reimburse us for Karl Rove’s salary.
    And yes, since Idaho is so fucking Republican, they probably won’t mind picking up the tab in that town. Really, there are decent people throughout Idaho, but why they keep voting for these criminals is just beyond me. Yeah, another coastal blue-stater here, who sometimes thinks of retiring in Hagerman.
