Stomped On By Pacifists

Snow’s got this awesome series of posts going where he takes apart letters to the editor which are of the usual “I love God and Puppies and Our Troops and Low Taxes and My Gun and You’re a Dirty Commie” variety of halfbright commentary. It’s got me howling with laughter, especially as it used to be my job to talk to these ten-a-penny malcontents when they’d call up the newspaper offices:

One party claims the moral high ground while feasting on a smorgasborg of corruption and broken promises, as the other preaches diversity and tolerance while dancing madly in their hootenanny of hate.

HOOTENANNY.

Seriously, it’s just precious. Go read. You won’t be disappointed.

  1. Wouldn’t that be a Hatenanny?
(Granted, that could have all kinds of other possible meanings…)

  2. “Chock full of hoot, with just a liiiitttle bit of nanny”
Oz, “Dead Man’s Party”, BTVS, Season 3
sorry, buffy quotes are an involuntary response.

  3. My favorite line from that ep is when they’re looking at the undead cat and Oz says to Giles, “I think you should name it Patches.”

  4. In the second sentence, Snow got the one about the house divided wrong. It is from the Bible, Matthew 12:25. Lincoln often used biblical references in his speeches. Just sayin’.
