Friday Cat Blogging II—Bill of Rights Day

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim December 10, 2006, as Human Rights Day;December 15, 2006, as Bill of Rights Day; and the week beginning December 10, 2006, as Human Rights Week. I call upon the people of the United States to mark these observances with appropriate ceremonies and activities.

Legal scholar, Teddy, believes the Military Commissions Act, the USA Patriotic Act and NSA wiretapping program present problems by her read of the Bill of Rights. To her feline mind… Bush’s proclamation of Bill of Rights Day is therefore so much blah, blah, blah but asks what would be “appropriate ceremonies and activities” in which she should partake today?

  1. W’s calendar must be off: it is December 16th, not the 15th, which is the one year anniversary of the New York Times article revealing the illegal NSA wiretapping, in violation of (among other things) the fourth amendment.
Bill of Rights Day … because all year long would let the terrorists win.

  2. well, as a dramatic statement, you could put it in Teddy’s litter box and let her use it as toilet paper- that’s pretty much what our administration has done to it.
ps-teddy is a legal scholar, in addition to the rest of her awesome skill sets? Maybe SHE should run in 2008?

  3. Ficus…REally?
I suppose Mr. Prissypants wouldn’t celebrate THAT now would he

  4. OK Ficus you were pulling Teddy’s leg…
    The Google found…
December 15th has been known as Bill of Rights Day since 1941 when President Franklin D. Roosevelt proclaimed it as such,

  5. You can bet that Teddy both understands and cares about the Bill of Rights far more than anybody in the West Wing.
Cats are wise. I think it’s no coincidence that Dubya has Barney and the Big Dawg had Socks. (And I say that as a true dog lover)
