LOS ANGELES – Gerald R. Ford, who picked up the pieces of Richard Nixon’s scandal-shattered White House as the 38th and only unelected president in America’s history, has died, his wife, Betty, said Tuesday. He was 93.

I’m very sorry to see him go. He may not have been a great president, but he was the president we needed at that time. But he was also a kind man. I wouldn’t be surprised if he held on till the day after Christmas to spare his family.
He was a saint compared to our present Republican. He was, indeed, a calming influence after the tension-filled Watergate period, a man with a sense of decency.
He was a decent man as said above and Betty is a wonderful woman.

From 2000 to 2004 he was not the only non-elected person to serve as President of the United States, but I guess it is accurate now.
