Payback Time for Congress

Last month Chimpy gave recess appointments to three men who had been <a href="rejected by the Republikkkan congress.

The President has recess appointed Warren Bell, of California, to be a Member of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

The President has recess appointed Wayne Cartwright Beyer, of New Hampshire, to be a Member of the Federal Labor Relations Authority.

The President has recess appointed Mark McKinnon, of Texas, to be a Member of the Broadcasting Board of Governors.

Today he has nominated all three to slots vacated by other appointees, all of which include lengthier terms of office.

Warren Bell, of California, to be a Member of the Board of Directors of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting for a term expiring January 31, 2012, vice Kenneth Y. Tomlinson, resigned, to which position he was appointed during the last recess of the Senate.

Wayne Cartwright Beyer, of New Hampshire, to be a Member of the Federal Labor Relations Authority for a term of five years expiring July 1, 2010, vice Othoniel Armendariz, to which position he was appointed during the last recess of the Senate.

Mark McKinnon, of Texas, to be a Member of the Broadcasting Board of Governors for a term expiring August 13, 2009, vice Fayza Veronique Boulad Rodman, to which position he was appointed during the last recess of the Senate.

Congress should reject all three, sending a stern message that the Chimpster’s unprecedented use of recess appontments must end.

  1. To the office of the POTUS:
Hey Einstein! ‘recess appointment’ does not mean a play date on the ranch. (apologies to Dr. Einstein)
