LOS ANGELES, Feb. 11 — After death threats, boycotts and a cold shoulder from the country music establishment, the Dixie Chicks gained sweet vindication Sunday night at the 49th annual Grammy Awards, capturing honors in all five of the categories in which they were nominated.
And the wonderful Irma Thomas took the Grammy for best contemporary blues album for “After the Rain”
Way to go Dixie Chicks. And it was a fine damned album, indeed.
Did you catch it as the camera panned the crowd and showed the scowling country artists sitting on their hands as everyone else was cheering for the Chicks?
I was hoping Toby Keith would have an aneurysm.
Excellent. The brave and talented Dixie-Chicks and the divine Irma Thomas. Who could ask for anything more?
If you don’t like it, take it and shove it.
