Sullivan

You’ll pardon me if I don’t join the chorus of praise for this. Every time he writes one of these shocked-and-appalled things, I have to ask myself exactly who he thought he was hanging out with all those years.

I mean, it’s not like it was hard to see the contempt beneath the surface with the modern Republican party, so I don’t think he deserves some kind of Internet cookie for coming to his senses after Coulter finally says something so hateful it can’t actually be ignored anymore.

Meh. If he’s coming back to sanity, good for him. I can give him “credit” for this without absolving him for his previous screeds. Andrew Sullivan’s emotional state isn’t of great interest to me.

Well, yes, but you see Coulter’s comment offended HIM and that’s why it (unlike her calls for death to liberals, Muslims, and so on) deserved rebuke. It’s all about the Sullivan.

He may not deserve it but perhaps that is what he needs. People don’t usually change in a vaccum.

I totally agree with you. When he thought Bush and Co. would just go after poor people, black people, Mexicans, the environment, they were OK., but once they went after rich white gay guys too they were over the top.
The only thing I will give Sullivan credit for is that at least since Abu Grabe he has been a very consistent voice against the horrible human rights record of Bush and Co.
