Scout’s Obsession with the GAO: Colbert Edition

OKsome of you encouraged me with this obsession and now everyone is stuck with it. Today though is video of last night’s appearance of the GAO’s Comptroller General David Walker on the Colbert Report. He did well. Lots of energy but then again he works at the agency that is ranked Number 2 in the recently released Best Places to Work in the Federal Government 2007!

BTW… Department of Homeland Security which includes FEMA was ranked second to last place or #29 of 30. Last place was the Small Business Administration. But I digress…

  1. Scout, not only did I encourage your GAO obsession, I’m SUPPORTING it and I’m on board!
Today’s post is about testimony from Lisa Shames, the Acting director of the GAO’s Natural resources and environment group.
She spoke before the House about the FDA and how weak they really are regarding food recalls. For example, did you know the FDA cannot require companies to recall tainted food! It’s all strictly voluntary. Now of course lots of companies get that killing customers is a bad thing so they DO recall tainted food, but isn’t that stunning to know?
