[Miss Universe Contestant] Miss USA Rachel Smith, who slipped and fell to the floor during the evening gown competition and was jeered by the Mexican audience during the interview phase, was the contest’s fourth runner-up.

Smith was booed during her interview and several audience members chanted “Mexico! Mexico!” until she spoke in Spanish, saying “Buenas noches Mexico. Muchas gracias!” which earned her applause.
and NO STAIRS! is she the one the donald was gonna remove for drug use? i thought she was blonde. not that i care really. but 4th? come on. pity?

To me this highlights how even the pretense of the tiniest shred of politeness could elevate our position. All she had to do was take the 5 seconds to learn how to say, “Good evening. Thank you.”
The words weren’t even coherrent with the situation. But even this token display of civility, from the above, changed the boos to cheers.
I thought she handled it very well, she sort of bounced when she went down, her ample undercarriage made sure she only had her dignity hurt, gave everyone a laugh too. Ya gotta have comic relief at events like this. =)
i must say she got up quick.
