Today on Athenae’s Obsession with the Freepi: Enjoy Your Hostage Standoff, Guys?

A selection of the kinder comments:

I wonder what nutjob they paid to pull this stunt… like all the people who they get to hang nooses to make people think conservatives are radical haters.

Just another diversion or to seek attention and sympathy.

Why can’t two hostages take down one sick, tired, and disturbed individual?

Oh, right—they’re Democrats.

Probably one of their moonbats. Cindy Sheehan perhaps.

Noticed someone on DU passing the hat for ransom has collected 77 cents so far…j/k

And what can one say about that last Clinton campaign worker when he came prancing out of the besieged HQ?

light in the Birkenstock me thinks.

Just remember…the “hostages” are Hillary boot lickers!! I’m sure she’ll gather them in one room, promise them compensation and an internship so they can continue their boot-licking careers.

She has certainly had her name constantly on the air for the past 3 or 4 hours.

Geraldo heard that the two hostages are attractive young women in tight sweaters.

I really would love it if nobody talked to me about civility in politics for a while, so that I could refrain from telling them to shut the fucking fuck up.

That compassionate conservatism – it bring a tear to the eye.

I don’t know–why don’t you try asking the survivors of a Palestinian or Iraqi suicide bomber that same question?

Well. Another heaping helping of the reckless courage of the non-combatant.
The incident disturbs me. It lowers the bar, it’ll inspire others. There are probably hundreds of thousands of people with actual weapons in this country who wouldn’t mind seeing Hillary killed, who might actually applaud the act.

  5. Well, A., I guess somebody has to go there to take note of what those creepy people say, but better you than me, chère. Very enlightening – to me anyway.
It’s a mindset that’s totally baffling to me.

    Yes, Prof, that’s it.

    “radical haters”

Ick, I remember reading an interview with one of the members of Hadag Nakhash, an Israeli (pro-peace) hip-hop/funk band I like, who mentioned that he’d been on the scene fornine terrorist attacks and had personally watched his paramedic best friend (quote) “trying to put some guy’s brain back in his head.” That sort of stuff sticks with me.
Too bad the Freepi don’t get out much, even virtually. They might learn something, like that no matter who it happens to, shit like that isn’t funny. Hell, if someone walked into Freak Republic’s head office and took everyone hostage, I wouldn’t be laughing about it either. And that’s basically the difference between them and us — the closest they get to empathy is a species of smugly vindictive cruelty.
