One Million Killed In Chimpy’s Vanity War

That’s a lot ofblood on his hands.

More than one million Iraqis have died as a result of the conflict in their country since the U.S.-led invasion in 2003, according to research conducted by one of Britain’s leading polling groups.

The survey, conducted by Opinion Research Business (ORB) with 2,414 adults in face-to-face interviews, found that 20 percent of people had had at least one death in their household as a result of the conflict, rather than natural causes.

The last complete census in Iraq conducted in 1997 found 4.05 million households in the country, a figure ORB used to calculate that approximately 1.03 million people had died as a result of the war, the researchers found.

The margin of error in the survey, conducted in August and September 2007, was 1.7 percent, giving a range of deaths of 946,258 to 1.12 million.

The research covered 15 of Iraq’s 18 provinces. Those that not covered included two of Iraq’s more volatile regions — Kerbala and Anbar — and the northern province of Arbil, where local authorities refused them a permit to work.

  1. So it’s, what, 30 seconds until all the Bush defenders suddenly become experts in survey methods and sociometrics?

  2. So you’re telling me that of the pre-invasion population, 1 out of 4 Iraqis are dead as a result of war (no to mention the number that died of related causes but not a direct result of the war such as unsanitary water supplies, disease, etc.)
So basically, picture your family, and randomly put an x mark through 1/2 of them.

  3. but but but georgie got rid of saddam and made everything better and and and… well, ok it’s not better. um,…HISTORY!
    the bush family going down.

  4. Well that kind of record of mass deaths wouldn’t even put ol’ Chimpy in the top 5 killers of the 20th century. Maybe the top 10, but when you have competition from Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Mao, and Kaiser Wilhelm, it really takes an effort to make the record book.
BUT, this isn’t the 20th century anymore! It’s a whole new blank page in the record books, and a million deaths is right up at the top of the rankings.
So GOPers, let’s hear you chant it:
“USA! We’re number ONE! USA! We’re number ONE!”
    Jesus fucking wept.
