Ouch. Ouch, ouch, ouch.

Ouch. A piece of bad news wrapped up in protein.*

Influenza virus: Approximately 100 nanometers in size.
Me: Approximately 1.75*109 nanometers in size

So how is it that something so tiny can make me feel so very, very awful? Lousy not-quite-living jerks. I’ll have more in a few days, when I feel like moving again.

*Thank you, Sir Peter Medawar

This is a scary flu season. EVERYONE is getting it. I’m especially freaked having readJohn Barry’s excellent book on the 1918 flu. This many infections with such a wide geographic dispersal is scary.

Jude, when I was working for a living, taking sick leave so soon after starting on the job was equivalent to resigning. So, I look forward to more posts forthwith!

My boss swears you can kill the flu by boiling onions in 151 rum, and drinking the elixir left after you strain out the onions. But then he’s an 80-year-old crank from the Malvinas.
I guess if the onion-rum elixir doesn’t kill you, the flu won’t have a chance.

I just got over it, myself.
Nothing fun about it at all.
The pain really IS the key symptom with this flu. I never knew such fever ache, before.
I got over it in in three days. Put a tsp of Turmeric in Green Tea with honey and drink it every four hours to keep the virus out of your lungs.
    Seriously.
