  1. Today is Codpiece day? I gotta get to Hallmark – I hope they’re not sold out of cards.

  2. Heh heh heh.
I marched into the church office today singing what little I know of theInternational and the administrators looked at me like I had lost my mind…yet again.
When I wished them a happy May Day and proclaimed “Workers of the world…Unite! You have nothing to lose but your chains.” they just nodded and smiled, humoring the crazy associate pastor.
Needless to say, I live in a “right to work and get royally screwed by management and owners state.”

  3. I, too, walked into work this morning and saluted my co-workers with “Solidarity forever!”
At least one of them got it — he was later looking around for a megaphone so that he could give a pro-labor speech, in the manner, he said, of Eugene V. Debs or Emma Goldman. Sadly, he couldn’t find one.

  4. It’s also National Prayer Day and Law Day. So workers of the world Unite! And let’s all pray that someone , ahem Nancy,Harry, upholds the law of the land.
Alas it is also National Codpiece Day and Tweety Day, since that was the day Chris Mathews totally jumped the shark talking about how manly Dubs was in his flightsuit and wondering aloud on the teevees is Georgie were really wearing a codpiece.

  5. ILWU West Coast longshore workers stopped work for all of dayshift today to protest the US war and occupation in Iraq and Afghanistan. All 29 ports on the U.S. West Coast were shut down for eight hours.
The maritime industry (which I’m in) is usually pretty conservative, despite the union, so this is pretty cool.

  6. left rev.: one of my father-in-law’s favorite sayings is “Workers of the world…Unite! You have nothing to lose but your jobs.”
He’s a great guy, and voting Dem this year, but he’s management through and through…
