What the story neglected to add (in observance of the younger eyes that may peruse the column)…is that he was also holding a wedge of Parmagiano Reggiano and any sane person KNOWS you do NOT use a grater on that…you use a little spade-like knife to break it up…oh the cheesemanity!!! The bartender had NO choice but to comply. The heinous cruelty, for shame, for shame…

well, i suppose a grater could do some damage. but i hate cleaning them. skin and blood would be the pits.
