  1. Ewww. Sorry to hear it. Lots of fluids. Try coconut water to avoid the hypoglycemia that goes along with and exacerbates nausea, lack of appetite, etc. Please feel better soon.

  2. It’s out of season for influenza (that’s a fall and winter disease and naturally slacks off in the summer), so I’m sort of wondering what you actually have. If it’s some kind of Norwalk-esque stomach virus (the kind where you can’t get one end or other away from the toilet), my advice is lots of clear fluids, preferably with salt. Chicken broth, maybe, or if you can’t handle that, plain water with a quarter teaspoon of salt and a teaspoon of sugar stirred in. It’s not tasty, but it’ll keep you alive until you can eat again.

  3. I had a summer flu over the last 2 weeks or so — very sore throat, heavy coughing, lots of mucus, not very much in the way of aches and pains or stomach upset. All upper respiratory. It made me very tired, all I wanted to do was sleep. I missed a week of work because I was tired and the coughing was so bad. It was the pits.

  4. Dang, that’s a bummer. Worst cold I ever had was an August cold–I coughed so hard I was separating my ribs. Ow.
Hope yours passes soon! My recommended cure would be lots of love from the ferret children.

  5. I believe it is the Brett Favre mess. It’s got all of us down. I wish these dipshit football gurus would actually live the values they routinely spout. Hope you get better. Visualize a purple #4 kicking the shit out of Ted Thompson & that coach, whoever he is, a train conductor I guess.
Or, curl up with a bevy?, a horde?, a gaggle?, a murder? of ferrets. What do you call a whole bunch of ferrets anyway?

What came to my mind when you asked was a “finagle of ferrets.”
Alas, Wikipediasays the collective term for these mustelids is a “business of ferrets.”
I like my term better, but I’ll defer to those who actually have these critters!

  7. Mark1147, thanks for giving me the business, I know, I know, but I’m Favreless right now & my meds haven’t kicked me in the ass yet.
