RNC Night Three Crack Van

Posts in the van belong to their posters. Not to any of us, unless they do belong to us.

Update: Van Closed! Thanks to all for stopping by!

What a truly epic crapfest that was. Between hating on the “liberal media” and “eastern elites” which we all know is code forJews, they’ve basically proven they’ve got nothing left. Well, nothing but fetishizing small towns and wine-dine-sixty-nining America without hearing a damn word She says, to paraphrase Alanis Morisette, not that I do that lightly. Jesus Christ. For the FORMER MAYOR OF NEW YORK to talk about elites like they’re other people just proves how morally bankrupt and embarrassing this party has become.

Since Sarah Palin didn’t actually drool on herself or trip on the way to the podium tonight, I look forward to the wave of stories coming forward about how she exceeded expectations. One of the best lines of the night was Rudy Giuliani asking how dare we question her ability to be a mom and be VP. I say “best lines” because it was so splendidly divorced from reality as to hang there in the air like a Michael Jordan jump shot, impossibly perfect and suspended in nothingness.

Let me just say this for any of the media and cultural elites dropping by. This election cannot be about Sarah Palin being a nice person and a good mother. If we let them make it about that, about this stupid faux-scandal made-up bullshit, for the umpteenth time, we will lose the argument. So do not for one minute back down because you’re afraid they’ll make shit up about you. THEY ARE DOING IT RIGHT NOW ANYWAY. Make them eat that goddamn Koho, to put it in terms the hockey mom might understand. Hit ’em again, harder, harder.

I think you’re right in that this can’t be about be about her being a nice person or a good mother. However, this is going to be the argument the moment that John McCain drops in the polls.
He’s suffered from the “poor me, I was a POW” attack in the past. He’s done it so much in the past 8 years that it has lost its ability to sway people. It’s like the angry guy at work. It only works if you reserve your anger for when it is appropriate. But when it is shoved down your throat so much that you begin choking on it, whether you like it or not, then it becomes ineffective. You begin to drown it out.
I was born at the end of the Vietnam Conflict. I was never shoved into a tiger cage. I was never tortured. I never had my desk stolen by veterans and had a teacher guilt me into joining the armed forces to guilt me into earning it for future Americans. I appreciate what Mr. McCain went through to serve our country.
But it has nothing to do with our economy.
It has nothing to do with drilling in protected wildlife preserves.
It has nothing to do with abortions.
It has nothing to do with our country, right now.
It has everything, however, to do with our future.
If we are facing a second cold war from Russia, is having a psychologically damaged man who thinks that a first strike against an enemy is an example of effective foreign policy really our best bet? We have had that already with GW Bush. Fortunately it was not with an enemy capable of firing back at us with anything heavier than ground troops.
Is a party that uses “new ideas” such as limited fuel alternatives really our best bet for winning wars (started by us, or not) really our best bet.
Me, I see war. Against both parties able to be identified and those who aren’t.
They say only a fool fights a war on two fronts. What happens when it’s multiple enemies from various sides? How do you win that war?
    Sometimes diplomacy works.
In any case, we’re in the face of history. We can at the very least try to make our mark. Even if evil wins, we can stand up and let history know we did our best to stop it.

Aside: If Iran and Iraq eventually embrace democracy, I wonder how many of the candidates will use torture administered by the U.S. as a judge of their character in getting elected.

  2. they used their usual dog whistle stylings — but worse than the “elite” crap was the “Community Organizer” slams — code words for “black community” and “radical and/or union organizers” — time to get all community organizers, voter registration volunteers, and union organizers to redouble their efforts for Obama and the Dems!!!

  3. …”Community Organizer” slams — code words for “black community” and “radical and/or union organizers”…
Don’t forget the poor. When I heard these people mock and hiss and chortle at the term I realized that they just plain hate and despise human beings. That Palin used the bridge to nowhere story after everyone in the free world knows, especially the media, that she was for it before she was against us is a giant FU to rationality. They have gone “your either with us or your again us” and when I say “us” I mean reality.
The Christian Right party has pushed out anyone from the old Republican party with a lick of sense and concern for governance in deference to the most radical Christian nationalists. Even Nooners knows it.
