The Crazy. It Burns.

Can we get one of these for Pamela Geller, please?

Just in case you thought that one of the right-wing’s leading Internet lights (remember, this woman scored an interview with US ambassador to the UN John Bolton) might step back from the brink after losing last night, think again:

The Battle is Over, the War Begins Today I unpacked my winter
clothes in preparation for a long winter, and a long winter is coming
if not of the thermometer, then of the soul. A man that represents not
simply an opposing view but the view of those who oppose America and
all it stands for, will sit in the Oval Office. Worse still he did not
get there through a democratic election but through fraud, voter
intimidation and every dirty trick culminating in a campaign that had
little in common with conventional American politics and a great deal
in common with the cults of personality cultivated by totalitarian
dictators.

Our disappointment has come tonight. The disappointment of those
Democratic party voters who are still of the party of Jefferson rather
than the party of Ayers will come later and it will be far darker
because we were innocent of it, while they will be complicit in all
that he does. But we are not simply “Don’t Blame Me” voters. We did our
best to fight against this and while that may be small comfort against
what comes, it is important to remember that, just as it is remembered
in every age the people who stood against the rise of evil and took no
part in the mass madness that brings tyrants to power and overturns
nations.

But we are a long way from surrender. The battle is over, the war
begins. The United States government now falls into the hands of the
enemies of this country and civilization for a time or forever. And
that is part of what the war is about. The country has been in the
hands of people we disagreed with, but never in the hands of people
whose views are as diametrically opposed to ours as anything in the
Third Reich or the Kremlin. In their hands Federal power becomes enemy
power. The more ineffective and tied up they are, the less damage they
can do.

The battle against them must be twofold, first to limit the damage
they can do while in power, and secondly to plan and prepare to retake
Congress and then the White House in a coherent and orderly manner
without the chaos and backbiting that has characterized the last year
of this campaign. It will be all too easy to fall into the blame game
and to let it devour us, too much of the conservative movement and the
anti-jihad blogsphere is already fractured. The goal now must be to
heal those fractures, to create unity around a single purpose, to
liberate America again.

It will not be an easy struggle. The Obama years will make the worst
of the Clinton years look mild by comparison. We have seen the thuggish
abuses of power that brought Obama into office, but that is only a
taste of what an Obama administration in control of the Federal
government will be able to do. We have seen only a shadow of the
ruthless methods that were used to bring him to power, and even that
shadow is mostly dismissed as conspiracy theories. But that is also our
best hope. Obama’s only real calling card has been an empty promise.
Now he will have power and responsibility and we know he will abuse
them. Arrogance was and remains his achilles heel and the achilles heel
of his backers. And when their revolution runs into the reality of
voter expectations, there will be the opening to begin the political
downfall of this government.

For my own part I do not recognize Obama as my President, nor will I
refer to him as such. He has no legal right to serve in office nor has
he won a legal election. Nor do his cronies have any right to serve in
any position they are appointed to.

Wow. There’s someone you just can’t reach.

Waaaay back in the dark ages, before the Internets, the talk radio gasbags said the same thing about Clinton–he wasn’t legitimate, he was a thug, they’d never accept him as president, he’d make Carter look like Jesus, etc., etc.

So it’s same song, different verse. Now Clinton has been rehabilitated, and Obama will be the worst blah blah blah. Learn some new tricks, assholes.

Personally, I can’t wait until Pam Atlas has to report for re-education. It will be a great day, comrades!

  1. I don’t read her site. Is she opposed to comma usage in general or just for this screed? I know that seems a little thing, but there is something of civility in the proper use of grammar. This woman has no balance, no center, no understanding of the world around her. If she were not so hateful, it would be sad.

  2. No, she doesn’t believe in commas. She does, however, believe in exclamation points, sentence fragments, and all-caps.
That, and every nutty fucking conspiracy theory she hears.

  3. Pammycakes, Obama won by almost 8 million votes. You Pammycakes, you are the fraud. Maybe the plastic surgeon can make you feel better, as you will be getting no help from reality.
    Signed
    – not a fan of Atlas Juggs.

  4. Wow.
We have seen the thuggish abuses of power that brought Obama into office, but that is only a taste of what an Obama administration in control of the Federal government will be able to do.
Has she been asleep for the past 8 years? For the whole “suspension of habeas corpus” and “we don’t need no stinking warrants” and “Geneva Convention? Sorry, I don’t watch Sci-fi” bullshit?
For my own part I do not recognize Obama as my President, nor will I refer to him as such. He has no legal right to serve in office nor has he won a legal election. Nor do his cronies have any right to serve in any position they are appointed to
This a post from 2000, right? RIGHT? (Let me guess: she was one of the “We won–get over it” crowd in 2000, huh?)
Surely, there’s some medication that could help this poor woman…

  5. Is he was really that arrogant, wouldn’t he have stopped campaigning weeks ago?
Does she think she’s atarting a movement? Really, that is just a speech that any coach would give to a losing team plus a few delusions.

  6. a long winter is coming if not of the thermometer, then of the soul.
Meanwhile, we all continue to slog through the long winter of truly crappy writing.

  7. Wow. This is fucking crazy. I hung up on a relative last night after they said that they don’t recognize Obama as president either, nor will they respect him. WTF? I was hoping for a little bit of a longer honeymoon than this. Wow.

  8. db…You think this is crazy, you should have seen her screed on how Obama is Malcom X’ love child.

  9. db, that’s sad to hear. Give ’em a few weeks, they’re still in denial, soon they’ll be bargaining.

  10. I read her site occasionally and I think she writes quite well. She is also a raving lunatic.

  11. Hmm. Doesn’t recognize him. Well, I understand that, I said the same about the usurper in 2000. Of course, he had actually USURPED THE ELECTED PRESIDENT BY SUPREME COURT FIAT.
This though – he won. He was elected. He IS the president.
So now, we can all refer to her as an unAmerican Traitor who hates her country cuz she refuses to recognize the “duly elected” president (even though this one really is?)
Jude, you are braver than I, to slog through that.

  12. I can’t believe they haven’t sent this woman to the funny farm yet. Seriously, lady, you’ve got issues.

  13. I once read “The Rise of David Duke” a book by some NOLA J-types who were chronicling the KKK leader’s rise to power in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The frightening thing about the book was that for all the stunts he pulled (the Klan Patrol along the Mexican border was a particularly interesting one) it was when he donned the suit instead of the hood, the banner of the state instead of the banner of the Klan and the voice of “calm” as opposed the voice of “anger” that people really started buying into his shtick.
In reading this, I’m fearful of what we will see over the next four years from these types of folks. The ranting, raving, N-dropping, stereotyping fools are easy to sidestep and smack down. It’s these people (who, for the record, I think weaves some amazingly good prose) that can be the most deadly, as she uses intellect and strong verbiage to lay out the agenda of hate. She does it in such a deft and calm manner that it really is chilling.
I worry about who’s listening and who’s buying under the guise of “I’m not a racist, see, but…”
    Creepy.

  14. Really, what more would it take for her to recognize the election as legit? For God’s sake, he won by more than Bush ever did, even if you ignore the shenanigans that went on in Ohio in 2004! He kicked McCain’s ass from here to the other end of the country, taking states that nobody believed would go Democratic. McCain fucking conceded by 11:30 Eastern Time. But she doesn’t concede? She doesn’t think this is legit?
Honest to God, if Jesus Christ Himself came down from heaven and stood in front of Pam and told her that yes, Barack Obama is in fact the President elect of the United States and deserving of all the respect due to the office, shestill wouldn’t accept it, would she?
Some people really are beyond help.

  15. Sorry, Nora.
Pam Geller’s Jewish. She wouldn’t care what Jeebus has to say. 🙂
    Donnie–nice to see you, brother.
And do some of you people really think she writes well? Her shit reads like an ADD-afflicted middle schooler to me.

  16. Nora — I don’t think she would take Jesus’ word, being militantly Jewish (a la Meir Kahane).

  17. Jude-
I always had a thing for Bret Easton Ellis’s early work, which also was devoid of a great many punctuation marks. The language is clear, the writing is strong and her use of metaphor isn’t outlandish. Maybe I’ve been reading Freshman Comp papers too long, but it’s not bad (the writing anyway). Even as an Ellis fan, I’m thinking she needs to start subdividing some of those sentences and keeping simpler structure. Still, again, compared to the general “dees folk gonna be roonin our ‘conomy” blather I get out of most of these rants, this is well written.
It’s this kind of stuff that sways the middle to the right. The folks with just enough education to feel educated gravitate toward this. They can’t agree with the full-on spewing-crazy whack-jobs. However, with longer sentences, bigger words and such, the folks who want to be angry but can’t go full-bore anger nuts are usually able to grab on to this.
It’s frightening. And yes, it’s not Hemingway, but it’s better than average…
    Doc

  18. Her post and some of these comments are weirdly amusing to me. Change “Obama” to “Bush” in there. You wouldn’t have been surprised to read that on any left-wing blog. I think I *did* read it, actually. It’s really strange, like Geller somehow internalized the anti-Bush screeds, and now they are popping out in distorted form. Massive cognitive dissonance at work there, I think.
But then at the same time, I am also seeing comments that sound straight out of right-wing blogs talking about those left-wing blog posts. OMG overblown florid language! On a *blog post*, no less. Heaven forfend!
Is that how it is going to go now? We just swap masks?

  19. Yo, Pammie: Project much?
That said, do not underestimate how many people there are who think this way. And do not underestimate what they will be willing to do. They impeached Clinton; now, their anger is even greater.

  20. Is that how it is going to go now? We just swap masks?
    Let’s see, in 2000:
    -The race was extremely tight
-Gore wins the popular vote nationwide
-There were well-documented irregularites in the Florida vote
-There were complaints and protests about these voting irregularites throughout the whole election (not just “after our guy didn’t win”)
-Jeb Bush was gov. of Florida
-Florida Sec. of State Katheryn Harris was W’s state campaign manager
-Bush filed a lawsuit in the US Supreme Court to stop the recount
-The US Supreme Court had questionable (at best) jurisdiction in this matter, and many legal experts insisted they shouldn’t even hear the case
-The Court finds in favor of Bush, AND states that this case “doesn’t count” as a legal precendent
-Congress felt the issues in the 2000 election were substantial enough to merit a legislative fix (HAVA–not so fixy, but still…)
    In 2008:
-Obama has been ahead in the polls for weeks–and evenually leads every single poll by a respectable (if not comfortable) margin
-McCain pulled his campaign out of several states to concentrate his resources on crititcal areas
-McCain admitted straight up he was running behind, that he was the “underdog”
-After Palin ratcheted up the rhetoric, many conservative intellectuals abandoned McCain and publicly rebuked him
-There were only a few minor complaints about voting irregularities, and no protests anywhere
-The election had a record-breaking turnout of 64%! (I can’t remember a single election over 50% in my entire lifetime)
-Obama won the popular vote by the biggest margin in twenty years
-McCain did not contest the election in any way–in fact he conceded before several states had finished polling.
I can totally see the comparison.

  21. She’s merely reprinting the looney-tunes words of another wingnut blogger who calls himself “Sultan Knish.”
Aha! OK, that makes more sense. This didn’t have nearly enough all-caps sentences to be the work of Pammycakes.

  22. Why this douchebag uses a perfectly ok book to hide behind and spew her obviously bigoted crap is beyond me? Atlas is just a fucking book and not a Bible. Again, it’s not Rand who bothers me but her cultists. They are the very embodiment of the sheep-collective she wrote against, who thump her writings as their holy books. And they accuse us of being stupid enough to think Obama is our messiah. What a bunch of idiots.
    “I’m not your messiah.”
    “Yes, messiah.”

  23. We have seen only a shadow of the ruthless methods that were used to bring him to power, and even that shadow is mostly dismissed as conspiracy theories. But that is also our best hope.
Is she saying that conspiracy theories are her best hope or is this just Asperger Syndrome?
The aroma of wingnut angst is pleasing to Ba’al.
