My local rag is going through the very same process. Although I find it kind of hard to care since the owners decided at least a decade ago that abandoning real journalism for rightwing ideologue-humping was a great business model. I believe that currently it’s owned and operated by some Viguerie-style wingnut publishing company, with headquarters located one state over.
Frankly, the Big Guy and Rustywouldn’t even use it for litter box liner, these days.
