One kinda, sorta good note: Red Stick now has its very own Lucy’s Surfer Bar. Which is nice…except that it reminds me of just how different this place is from New Orleans.

Here in Loosiana, we call it “Huey’s erection” (built during Huey Long’s reign…replacing, ironically, a building that looks like a Gothic castle.) I thought the same architect designed both (The Gret Stet’s and Nebraska’s); a quick search around the internets says otherwise, although the building in Lincoln was apparently the inspiration.
And Florida has Askew’s erection built more recently but also a mini-skyscraper.
