Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney beat former Sen. Rick Santorum by a margin of just 8 votes in the Iowa GOP caucuses, the chairman of the Iowa Republican Party announced early Wednesday.

You’re wrong! If we don’t like the outcome, it must be corrupt. Can’t be that the Romney vote tally is close to the 2008 numbers, that he ran a smart campaign (something we shouldn’t pay attention to), and that a caucus process is fairly decentralized and difficult to fix. It’s corrupt! Corrupt!
Freepers can like Mitt or not (I’ve been trying to stomach him till the McCain endorsement raised my level of bile again) – but I do wish people would be a bit more sane.

Three weeks ago, E.J. Dionne (or “Baghdad Bob,” as James Taranto has called him) saw nothing but doom in the GOP’s future, as “the Republican establishment … is essentially powerless,” having surrendered its soul to the evil Tea Party, which has driven the country to hell.
Events since have proved this judgment mistaken: The establishment lives, and is doing its duty; part of the Tea Party has been merging with it; and the “system” is working as planned.
What are the signs that the system is working? When the prospect of former House speaker Newt Gingrich as the presidential nominee of the Republican Party first appeared to be rising, first responders from all parts of the party rushed to their stations en masse.
Former House colleagues called him unstable. The National Review termed him “erratic.” Ann Coulter called him all hat and no cattle. Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., weighed in with a similar judgment.
Tea Party stars rushed to shore up Mitt Romney, the most probable Gingrich alternative. Gov. Chris Christie, R-N.J., had already endorsed him. Gov. Nikki Haley, R-S.C., now endorsed him. Christine O’Donnell, who unseated Rep. Mike Castle in Delaware’s GOP Senate primary, endorsed the ex-moderate.
This was bad news for Dionne and his friends, who have waiting been three years for a Tea Party blowup (which they ought to know now is not likely to happen), and for the suicide wing of the conservative movement, which blames all its woes on establishment cunning, and calls the Coulters and Coburns RINOs and worse.
For the rest of the world, it was an unrelieved blessing. In a matter of days the Newt boom subsided, and the former speaker fell gently to Earth.

It is a testament to the profoundly patriotic conviction, sense of moral righteousness of those who perservered against all odds in making the Tea Party, the adoption of its principles, the success it has been, certainly will continue to be. There were untold number of reasons the Tea Party might have faded away. It succeeded as well as it has as a result of the truest form of patriotism, love of country by the intrepid citizenry who made in happen, as guided by the US Constitution as divinely inspired document having preserved this great nation of ours through centuries of turbulence, adversity, when having destroyed lesser nations in the process.God Bless The Tea Party! Mitt Romney broke through the tea party barrier Monday, winning that segment’s vote in a New Hampshire poll.
Romney beat Ron Paul among tea partiers, 29 percent to 21 percent, the Public Policy Polling survey reported. It was the first time Romney has carried a plurality of tea party voters, with whom the former Massachusetts governor has had chilly relations.
And in a possible leading indicator heading to Florida, Romney garnered 50 percent of the senior vote in the New Hampshire poll conducted by the Democratic-leaning PPP.
Overall, Romney was the choice of 35 percent of PPP respondents. Paul garnered 19 percent; Newt Gingrich, 13 percent; Jon Huntsman, 5 percent; Michele Bachmann, 3 percent; Rick Santorum, 2 percent; and Rick Perry and Gary Johnson, 1 percent.

Several more cars burned in suspected arson attacks in the Los Angeles area early Saturday morning, and authorities investigated if they were connected to nearly two dozen deliberately set blazes a day earlier, police said.
Seven or eight cars burned Saturday in the North Hollywood area, said officer Robert Collier.
He said he didn’t have further details of the blazes, but said arson is suspected and there could be a link to the earlier blazes.

Once it’s on TV as main plot, background or filler material, it grants permission for the rest of America to mimic them. If cars are being burned in California look, a year or two later, for cars to be alight in Peoria.
As racist as this sounds now, it will be mainstream thought once we have the problems France has. We must stop letting Muslims into the country. Radical or not, they’re the pine straw (fuel load) on the forest floor. Once the flames are started by the “radicals” then the entire fuel load will burn, taking civilization’s roots with it.

Los Angeles Police Department detectives found materials that could have been used to set fires inside the minivan of a “person of interest” detained for questioning in the recent string of L.A. arson fires, law enforcement sources told The Times.
The sources did not reveal details but said detectives confiscated “evidence and materials” that suggest the individual had the ability to ignite some or all of the blazes.
Little is known about the man. Sources said the the minivan had Canadian license plates but that detectives believe the man might originally be from Germany.

I know logic and forensic argument are not strong points of Freepers. They probably think that forensic argument is an episodic crime drama on CBS. They must realize, however, that accusing Rove of rigging elections is prime facie eveidence that they believe Republicans are every bit as dirty as the unfounded claims they level at Democrats!

Why should Iowa be guaranteed the first position and how does that make them special. The Caucus is only the folks who show up (can find baby sitters, make enough money that they don’t have to work that night, etc. etc. Count all the skewing factors you can think of.) As there are now around 1/2 dozen major contenders in the race, so much depends on who gets who’s vote as candidates drop out – so 20 votes one way or the other really does’t make a difference.
Are the candidates practicing their political skills at arguing points that don’t matter while Rome burns down all around them?
The accusation of miscounted votes doesn’t come from the official in charge of that meeting. The official apparently hasn’t said anytning. So why don’t I jump up and declare that the repub votes for Obama in the Caucus were uncounted and enough to put him over the top? I have as much standing as they do.
How long till the Freepers claim that the person making the accusation that a dem is the one making the accusation in a false flag attack?
As pointed out above, if it WAS vote tampering, then it was under a solidly repub structure (Iowa repub party) that was running it. And what does that say about the quality of the recount in Florida a decade ago?
Bringing me to a personal hot point – if we can’t verify the elections, we don’t have a democracy / republic.
