Quote of the day: irony edition

It comes from Current TV’s statement about *why* they fired Keith Olbermann:

Current was also founded on the values of respect, openness, collegiality, and loyalty to our viewers. Unfortunately these values are no longer reflected in our relationship with Keith Olbermann and we have ended it.

Sounds all high minded and groovy, right? Guess again: Keith’s replacement is former Noo Yawk Governor and well-known john, Eliot Spitzer. So much for the “values” of openness and loyalty…

  1. Unfortunately, I don’t get Current TV – missed my O Countdown since he left MSNBC.
On other news stories I’ve seen where O said that he has been begging with the folks at Current TV for quite some time to sit down and hopefully resolve their differences – only to be met with a lack of a response. Quite a shame.
As you point out, the replacement doesn’t really make me want to trust the network’s statement.

  2. I find Current’s explanation to be unprofessional and mean-spirited. They didn’t have to make comments about Keith’s character.

  3. Oh, c’mon, if Republican douches can get TV shows, why can’t Democratic douches?
As for Current and KO, I’m at the point where if I don’t see sworn depositions, then I really don’t care what anyone says. And I might not care even then.
