  1. I knew a doctor who served in World War II. He was shipped to Germany as the war ended.
He was temporarily assigned to guard a Schloss with a staff sergeant to help him.
A convoy pulled into the yard. Someone in an American colonel’s uniform got out of the lead jeep.
The staff sergeant went out to find out who they were. The guy in the colonel’s uniform told someone to kill him. They did and then they looted the Schloss.
My friend hid behind long drapes, scared to death that they would find him.

  2. I have to find my copy. I got halfway through, set it side due to some other reading, and never got back to it.
