Rex Stout is best known for his Nero Wolfe books featuring a corpulent, orchid growing, proto-foodie detective modeled on the author himself. They were swell puzzle mysteries in their day. Here are two non-Wolfe Stout books with cool covers:

I thought Double for Death was a Nero Wolfe story. Spent many happy hours in my youth in that brownstone…

Now I’m craving some shad roe.
I believe “Double for Death” is a mystery featuring his “other” detective, Tecumseh Fox. The confusion is understandable; many of the Nero Wolfe titles get blurred together in my mind because they are so similar. Lots of books have numbers in the titles, and of course there is plenty of “Death”.
“Double for Death” is one of three Tecumseh Fox novels Stout wrote. I probably own it but I’ll be damned if I remember much about it.
