Slate’s Dave Weigel recently wrote a swell series on the rise, fall and continuing influence of progressive rock, Prog Spring. Even though they’re more sui generis than a pure prog band, Weigel’s piece, got me reaching for my Tull CDs.
Ian Anderson is also a fellow August baby so here they are on German teevee at the end of the last century:
I love Tull.
I grew up listening to my Jethro Tull with my oldest brother, 17 years older. Singing ‘Snot running down his nose’ is fun as a toddler. And my sister played Bourée at her flute recital. I like to think there is a Tull 8-track playing in the crack van.
Just adrift and dumbfounded..
