It comes via Digby from an EJ Dionne blog post at the Wapo. He is quoting a pollster pal of his:
“When you give conservatives bad news in your polls, they want to kill
you,” he said. “When you give liberals bad news in your polls, they want
to kill themselves.”
I don’t usually recycle other bloggers’ material but this sums up panicky pundit syndrome in a nutshell.
Finally, I’m considering passing the hat to buy Andrew Sullivan some Depends. He’s been shiting himself since the debate so he’s bound to be in need…
I think that reaction applies to more than just polls or polling data.
And yes, it’d be nice if not-exactly-liberals-but-they’ve-finally-figured-winngnuts-are-batshit-crazy types like Sullivan (or, ok, more typical libruls like Chris Matthews) wouldn’t press the panic button like caged rats self-administering cocaine. Get a goddamned grip.
“passing the hat to buy Andrew Sullivan some Depends”
I don’t go there often, and I’m DAMNED sure not going there now.
