I’m sure the wingnut factions, if they even bother, will insist this horrific tragedy is a lesson on the evils of big gubmit, but that’s bullshit. The only way for something like a school lunch program to succeed is by using the power of, ahem, good solid liberal government, with all it’s dagnabbit rules, regulations — and funding — to ensure that standards are met.
But…as Adrastos noted yesterday, there’s a movement afoot in this country to simply abolish public education, period. I guess the idea is what do “those people” need education for anyway?

More likely they’ll use it as a springboard for more racism. They only care about “big gubmit” when they think it’s working to help “those people”, instead of holding them down like it’s supposed to.
