Good morning, everyone!
As a Texan, I’m proud to be from the state that brought the world Molly Ivins and Wendy Davis. Unfortunately, we also brought the world Gohmert Pyle and Ted Cruz (leaving Canada out of it for the moment).
So – the first in a series of Carnival Cruzes –Cruz Amuses!
Senate votes 100-0 to move ahead on debate over ObamacareLos Angeles Times ^ | 09/25/2013 | Lisa Mascaro

The Senate easily overcame Wednesday’s first hurdle to a fizzling GOP strategy to strip funding for President Obama’s healthcare law in exchange for keeping the government running.
Top Republicans are now for a new — more modest — way to chip away at the Affordable Care Act.

100-0? After all that, Cruz voted to move the measure forward?
Am I missing something?

This was NOT the cloture vote Cruz wants to stop!
These aren’t the droids you’re looking for.
That will come Friday or Saturday.
(Seems to be a lot of confusion on this…)

Cruz voted for this? So, what was the point?
Carmen Ghia: “Keep searching around – you’ll find it.”
I have an uncomfortable feeling this whole thing was about maximum TV time for Cruz and a possible Presidential run. From what I’m seeing here, it’s working.
To: Personal Responsibility
This was the motion to proceed (to debate), basically bringing the bill to the floor.
In the old days there would have been an actual debate, but now, Reid files for cloture at the same time he files a bill so he can call for an end to debate whenever he wants, which is usually after the mandatory 30 hours of debate, i.e. the next morning or afternoon.

Look at FR today. All we’re doing is fighting each other, and not the Dems.
The fact is we can’t repeal Obamacare with only control of the House. When people sat on their hands and refused to vote for Romney they lost the chance for repeal.
As long as we are this divided we have no chance to win the Senate or the Presidency. Or repeal Obamacare.
.
To: Repeal The 17th
No. What Cruz is doing has no chance of success but sure is getting him a lot of TV time. Plus, overnight he has become the darling of FR and other conservatives without actually accomplishing anything. He won’t be up for reelection for years but wants the House Republicans, who are up for reelection next year, to take the political heat for him. That sets off my antennae.

CNN: Is Ted Cruz Eligible To Run For President?Real Clear Politics ^ | August 14, 2013 | RCP

CNN’s Athena Jones investigates if Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) is eligible to run for president. CNN says the “natural-born citizen” question is dogging Cruz. For the record, CNN said every constitutional law expert they interviewed for said Cruz is a natural-born citizen and eligible to be president.
*******************************************
I clearly do not recall CNN, or any other major media outlet, questioning Hussein’s elegibility and everyone knows his father was a BRITISH subject, being from Kenya.
OPEN THE COLLEGE RECORDS OF THE CURRENT PRESIDENT.

You guys STILL don’t get it, do you?
You made asses out of yourselves screaming “KENYAN!!” and “BIRTH CERTIFICATE!!!”, and everybody who wasn’t a Birther Baboon twirled their fingers at their temples and rolled their eyes.
Now? They’re treating you like you would treat someone who insisted that space aliens were responsible for their not paying their rent once, and they are now just fucking with you – saying “It’s space aliens!” to you every time you ask about anything at all.
Where’d your car go?(actually, it was towed)
SPACE ALIENS TOOK IT!
What happened to the rest of your beer when you came back from the john?(Steve did it)
SPACE ALIENS DRANK IT!
Why didn’t you get that promotion?(you were passed over for someone less obviously kuckoo)
SPACE ALIENS USED MIND CONTROL!
And so on.
To: Cheerio
This debate allows for questioning of whether Hussein was qualified for the office in the first place, doesn’t it?

Could be a reverse psych op. In our outraged zeal to sputter about Cruz’s obvious eligibility, we will provide a blanket amnesty for obama.

Sorry, as exciting as Ted Cruz is for actually having a stiff conservative spine, being born in Canada to only one USA citizen parent, one thing he is not is a
natural born Citizen (not that following basic Constitutional law seems to matter to anyone anymore these days), so he can’t possibly run for president as a Constitutional conservative.
As much as I like his politics in general, if he tries to run for president, not only will he never get my vote, but I will do my level best to see that everyone I know fully understands that he is completely ineligible.
Now, Sarah Palin – I’d vote for her in a heartthrob.🙂

Cruz Will Renounce Canadian CitizenshipThe Washington Post ^ | Monday, August 19, 2013 | Aaron Blake
Posted on Monday, August 19, 2013 8:17:17 PM by kristinn
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) announced Monday evening that he will renounce his Canadian citizenship, less than 24 hours after a newspaper pointed out that the Canadian-born senator likely maintains dual citizenship.
“Now the Dallas Morning News says that I may technically have dual citizenship,” Cruz said in a statement. “Assuming that is true, then sure, I will renounce any Canadian citizenship. Nothing against Canada, but I’m an American by birth and as a U.S. senator; I believe I should be only an American.”
SNIP
“Because I was a U.S. citizen at birth, because I left Calgary when I was 4 and have lived my entire life since then in the U.S., and because I have never taken affirmative steps to claim Canadian citizenship, I assumed that was the end of the matter,” Cruz said.

This is a likely indicator he will run for President. If not 2016 then 2020.

mylife (Ted Cruz understands the law, and he does not fear the unlawful.)
Apple pie isn’t American. It’s Dutch.
Well, that’s all the stoopid I can handle for one week – see you troopers next Monday!
I think I’m really going to enjoy watching Cruz get RINO’d. There ain’t never been a Republican who’s pure enough for these idiots.
Thought I read somewhere that he’s also a Cuban citizen, since Cuban law says that any child born to a Cuban citizen is also Cuban. So he’s Raphael Cruz, Canadian-Cuban-American. The mind reels. Good job this week, Tommy!
Good point, merciless! And Cruz *HASN’T* renounced Cuban citizenship, has he?
To make it official, Cruz would have to go to the Cuban Embassy in DC (just a short cab ride from the Senate!), stand in front of the Ambassador, and recite his citizenship renunciation THREE TIMES in SPANISH, with NO MISTAKES.
A fuck it, just deport his Batista-luvvin’ ass to Havana and be done with it.
I’m totally lost on Cruz’s gameplan and keep hoping I’ll see something that helps it at least make sense other than some sort of psychotic breakdown.
1) Cruz for prez (and as you pointed out the Birthers, etc. on Obama). Canada isn’t part of the US and tends to take humbrage at those who assume that they are. Hawaii- well it isn’t the mainland and I wonder how many birthers think it isn’t really the USA.
CNN interviewed experts – did CNN actually post that or was that an invention out of thin air?
The thing which at least comes close to making sense is that for the last 5 years the Koch/Tea Bagger/Faux News strategy seems to be to keep coming up and yelling really stupid assertions. So much time and effort will have to go into refuting the Malakitude (Yes, with a capital M. All apologies to the Malaka of the week column). They can do whatever they want to behind the scenes as everyone is looking at the stupid.
2) Cruz’s love of Green Eggs and Ham: I’m totally confused. The best I can come up with was the idea was to eat up the clock (21 hours of the mandatory 30 hours of debate – or something like that).
21 hours could have been used for honest debate. But that most likely would mean that the public might hear some of the truth and good about the Affordable Care Act.
Great Article. article , I Appreciate the facts . Does someone know if my assistant might acquire a sample 2011 IRS W-2 form to fill out ?
