Sunday Morning Video: The Rat Pack Live In 1965

Feeling retro? Put on a fedora, pour yourself a belt and watch Dino,Sammy and Frank do some crooning and cutting up. Speaking of cutting up, the MC was Johnny Carson. Enjoy:

  1. Thank you so much for taking me back to a time when the great singers really knew how to craft a song and sing. AND they did this for a charity in the middle of the country! Dino, Sammy and Frank have always been favorites of mine. They do not yodel like today’s singers and they can sustain a note with feeling, really sing a song like they mean it, and they can play with each other. Even the nerdy at the time Johnny Carson is along and contributing to the evening. I really like Dino and Frank, but Sammy is my all time favorite. He could BE an entertainer in any venue. In 1965 a friend in high school went to Las Vegas with her father and saw Sammy. He wasn’t able to sing but did stories and impressions and just talked to the audience. My friend said it was the best she had seen. I think it would have been for me too. Thank you! Go Cardinals!!!

  2. This is great. Like Scotia, I love Sammy and still kick myself that I didn’t see him the one time I had the chance.
By the way, I’m just finishing the new biography of Johnny Carson. It’s quite good.

  3. And I’ll add: Sammy’s Vegased-up version of “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” theme… as Sammy himself would say, if that don’t turn you on, you ain’t got no switch.
