Come to think of it, the only real social spending supported by Republicans that’s had a significant impact on African-Americans over the last generation or so has been…prisons. Which makes their “welfare is the plantation” argument even more ironic, given that at least in Louisiana, the major state prison once WAS a plantation. Just saying.
