Album Cover Art Wednesday: In The Right Place

Mac Rebbenack was a journeyman musician when he created the persona of Dr. John, the Night Tripper. The character was based on a 19th century voodoo priest. It gave Mac the hook he needed to be noticed. This 1973 LP was his commercial breakthrough and was the time many of us, myself included, had ever heard of him.

The cover painting was by James Flournoy Holmeswho did a bunch of album covers in the early 1970’s including Eat A Peach by the Allman Brothers. His cover for In The Right Place is peachy in its own way:
