  4. Curious George, before the red shirt and cap era. I’m pretty sure I got it the same week my mom brought me home from the hospital after I was born. I still have it. To prevent a lifetime of crotch thread rips, Mom made a pair of jeans for him out of a length of denim from some of my uncle’s jeans—she occasionally clothed me similarly). George has been rocking the Stanley Kowalski look since the 70s.

  5. A set of robot like dolls my dad made for me using spare parts from his job as a machinist at a paper factory. I wish I still had them, but my mom hated them and got rid of them as soon as she thought I was too old for them.

  7. There’s a lot of childhood there.
    Would it be the Space LEGOs? The big Millenium Falcon? The SkyStriker? Or the Commodore 64?
    If you ask my wife, my current child’s toys are my MacBook Air and my Trident trike.

  9. My childhood dentist gave me and my cousin a choice of trinkets after each visit: a cheap plastic gumball machine ring, or a rubber animal eraser. We always chose the erasers, and with my lousy baby teeth (I had EIGHT fillings! In my baby teeth!), I amassed quite a collection.
    I was into trolls, too – still have them.
    For the rare toy treat, we lived for the day when a family would get a new appliance. We played with or in the empty box for days afterwards.

  11. my extra tall Princess Leia “barbie.” she wasn’t really part of the barbie line. she was like, 2″ taller than my next biggest barbie. i gave her a mohawk, and put her in charge of a group of barbie and other dolls who were underwater lesbian telepaths.
