WSJ’s Riley: “We Need To Talk About Black Criminality.” Appearing on the August 17 edition of NBC’sMeet the Press, The Wall Street Journal‘s Jason Riley discussed the shooting death of Michael Brown in Ferguson by saying: “Let’s not pretend that our morgues and cemeteries are full of young black men because cops are shooting them. The reality is that it’s because other black people are shooting them.” Riley went on to assert that “we need to talk about black criminality” because blacks make up “50 percent of homicide victims in this country, and 90 percent of those victims are killed by other black people.”
Yeah, and every time somebody tries to discuss the roots of poverty and violence that lead to young black men killing each other, y’all lose your goddamn minds.

And the flip side is that I guess the Wall Street Journal needs to ignore, um, white/white collar criminality, the billions of dollars looted through various schemes over the last decade and a half…from Enron employees joking about shoving money up “grandma’s ass” (though no one calls them thugs) to the self described “shitty deals” of “toxic waste” to the robo-signed foreclosures to the tax-payer financed bailouts to the indignation about even a suggestion that tax-payer financed bonuses be limited, given that they almost blew the global economy to smithereens. And I haven’t even mentioned the ugly macho-culture that pervades the Wall Street world…every bit as ugly-macho as what you hear from gangster rappers…
Trying to sell it as ‘reparations’ is a loser, period. No one wants to admit they are bad people and have to make reparations like a criminal. Do the same thing, just call it something else. Branding is everything, you may have heard. While it isn’t, there’s still some truth to it.
