Headline Of The Day: Trump’s Weak Week Edition

I’ve been pondering the Insult Comedian’s dreadful post-debate week. It’s hard to recall *any* Presidential candidate having a worse one: McGovern during the Eagleton disaster,  Dukakis after the “what if your wife were raped and murdered” debate question, and McCain’s “I’m suspending my campaign” meltdown all come to mind. But it’s hard to top the manifold wounds inflicted on Trump last week by himself and by damaging stories: from the Machado meltdown to his tax evasion “genius” and on and on and on.

It was a week that will help make him among the losingest losers who ever lost like the candidates mentioned above. Thanks, Donald.

That brings me to the headline of the day. It comes from NYmag.com and it’s one I wish that I written myself:

Trump Finishes His Very Bad Week by Driving His Trainwreck Off a Cliff

It’s almost impossible to top that but the details of Trump’s latest stump rant come very close to doing so. Here are some excerpts of a rambling tantrum that’s bizarre even by his standards.

I have a great temperament. I have in my opinion — it’s like one of my strongest things. I have a winning temperament but you know how they choose ‘em — we have a winning temperament. … Now [Clinton] has got bad temperament. She’s got — She could be crazy. She could actually be crazy.

<SNIP>

33,000 emails deleted. Bleached! Acid-washed! And then takes her phone and they hammer the hell out of them How many people have acid-washed or bleached a tweet? How many? That you deleted! So you delete it, but that’s not good enough. No, we got — this is getting crazy. Our country is becoming a third world country.

As usual there’s a lot of projection in his shtick, but the “acid-washed” thing is flat-out nuts. How does one “acid-wash or bleach” a tweet? I thought acid-washing had something to do with jeans, not with a tax evading “genius” in an expensive suit or even his opponent. It makes me wonder if Trump hammered the hell out of his own head. Nah, that would wreck his weave. Besides, it would be too taxing and we know Donald isn’t into taxing his “very good brain” or paying taxes for that matter.

The funniest bit may be where he does some movie criticism. I am not making this up:

And it’s getting worse. It’s not getting better. It’s getting worse. And you’re unsuspecting. Right now, you say to your wife: “Let’s go to a movie after Trump.” But you won’t do that because you’ll be so high and so excited that no movie is going to satisfy you. Okay? No movie. You know why? Honestly? Because they don’t make movies like they used to — is that right? What a difference.

High on Trump? Oy just oy. I give his campaign thumbs down, way down. It’s what happens when you have No Self Control:

Someone with wicked photoshop skills really should adapt the Melt cover into a Trump poster. Sounds like a job for my First Draft colleague, Michael F.
