Edgar Maddison Welch, a 28-year-old North Carolina man, was arrested Sunday afternoon on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon, after police say he fired his rifle into the floor of the pizza place. No one was hurt, but the incident sent customers running. Welch, who told authorities he went to the establishment to “self-investigate” the sex ring claims, allegedly was spotted looking for rumored tunnels filled with hidden children, a nearby store owner told The Washington Post.

If it’s any consolation, TTOwtF has been one of my Monday touchstones for years. Knowing that someone else sees the absurdity of the RWNJs and can point and laugh, has helped.
Yeah, your work with the Obsession is appreciated out here…..it’s the only thing that gets me started on Mondays.
The discouraging part is that this is what the Freepers do with the straight news. Most of the fun stuff is when they run smack into reality after riffing on half-understood headlines that they harvest from the derpiest corners of social media. Now instead of their mainly being loons lost in reality, somehow reality has agreed to meet them more than halfway.
The most active Freeper threads about the Michelle-Oprah interview mentioned above all relate to her comment “Now we’re feeling what not having hope feels like. Hope is necessary”. Those that didn’t read it as a story about how Michelle has lost hope personally, took it as an opportunity to talk about how she was just the first of her…kind to be evicted from public housing because of Trump. There is a lot to be….discouraged by.
But then I read this:

In truth, nothing has changed from November 7 until now in terms of what is morality, what is truth, what constitutes decency. Right now hurts all the more because we fell from a pretty remarkable height of hope into what promises to be a nightmare. But we are still here, right? And the Freepers are not any more in tune with reality now than they were at any point in the past 20 years, and soon enough they will go back to being the most reliable barometer of wrongness in the known universe.
