Morning, all! Only one thing on the Obsession agenda this week – LOSING!!!
Trump drops executive action on U.S. Census, will seek citizenship survey by other means
R ^ | 7/11/19 UPDATED AN HOUR AGO | Jeff Mason, David ShepardsonPosted on 7/11/2019, 3:20:54 PM by conservative98
A government official confirmed that Trump is expected to announce he will drop the legal battle to include the question on the census survey and instead direct the Commerce Department to obtain answers on citizenship through other means, but it was not clear how that would occur or how it would be funded.
The U.S. Census Bureau is part of the Commerce Department. The U.S. Constitution specifically assigns the job of overseeing the census to Congress, limiting the authority of the president over it, which complicates adding the question to the decennial survey via presidential missive.
Trump’s decision not to proceed with an executive order on adding the citizenship question to the census was first reported by ABC News.
To: conservative98So he didn’t announce it yet?Speculation……

“A federal judge rejected the Trump administration’s effort to change its legal team in the census citizenship question case, ruling Tuesday that the government gave no reason why it wanted to pull the lawyers who’ve argued the case for months.“Defendants provide no reasons, let alone ‘satisfactory reasons,’ for the substitution of counsel,” Judge Jesse Furman said.”
I’m sure Rudy will get on this right away!
.
Or not.

Paying attention to a judge after the congress failed to override the emergency dec is a show he will not exercise his full power. All that cheerleading at the rallies and we get a weak ass effort.
I Looked up “weak ass effort” in Urban Dictionary, and there’s a picture of The Darnold.
secondly, where are the republican elders when this deleted hag opens her mouth.

Fortunately, Freepers are going to bring their staggering mental powers and deep understanding of Constitutional Law to bear :

To: conservative98Good grief, people! Get a grip!
Do you think Trump is going to fold on the big issues? Any disappointments we have are due to the Swamp, not Trump.
Do you think it might be possible that his legal team has figured out a way to achieve the objective in a manner that can be executed accurately and quickly, that no court can permanently stop?
If the printed form has a lead time that we can’t meet, then they’ll skin the cat another way.
President Trump and his team aren’t stupid, and they’re not losers like Jeb!, Ryan, et. al.
Keep the faith!
To: lodi90Trump saw an opportunity to stroke his ego and seized the moment. There was pent up demand for change and frustration with the status quo, so Trump merely parlayed his media acumen with nicely constructed marketing phrases. To this day, people are still gratified that at least someone will ‘fight back’ – if only verbally/textually.It’s taken me years to understand what Cankles really meant when she referred to patriots as ‘deplorables’: you have to pretty pathetic to believe such a hack. It explains why the media and other elite think conservatives are fools as well. They know Trump from first hand experience – consider the blind faith people who attend his rallies must possess.
The whole thing is nonsense – the fatal dosage was administered long ago. I used to wonder about Madame Defarge, why Dickens imbued her with pathological hatred for generations not yet born. It’s because the engineers behind this whole scheme will be long gone when the bill comes due. Hence, the drive to punish anyone even remotely connected, if only through ancestral family lines.

Same with North Korea—who have given NOTHING back of substance.
He initially talks and tweets a lot of puffed up hot air and threats, then settles down to terms much more acceptable to the other side and in fact often gets little out of it in return except theatrics. We long time Freepers who are conservatives first and not blind followers of just one man, have every right to question him and speak up when he backs down like this and gives us another disappointment. His bark is much mightier than his bite100 posted on 7/11/2019, 4:51:53 PM by AmericanInTokyo (US on the verge of accepting a nuclear armed North Korea but we can build nice golf resorts there…)

My parents voted for Trump, my dad someone reluctantly. Neither will vote for him again. They won’t vote for a democrat, they’re just honest enough to see that Trump hasn’t accomplished much on this critical issue and everything else is arranging deck chairs if we don’t get progress on this.

Then they are fools, and they are the ones that were never serious because they obviously are too damn thick to help.
Like what do hayseeds that dumb think, that determined opposition doesnt exist? Welcome to the real world!
Either tell them to stop behaving like pouty children or be Democrats, because they arent principled, or whatever nonsense they BS’d themselves into thinking they are.
To: ozarkgirlI know right, impossible to please — outrageous to expect Trump to deliver for once. Maybe he can ban some other firearm accessory or tweet out a tweet in support of gay pride month to make up for it.He promised the world, and Mexico would pay for it. Years later, nothing, and he has caved several times on closing the border, building a wall, etc. He waited until after the GOP lost the House to get serious. Yeah, they were uncooperative. Waiting until the dems had the House…May as well attempt to negotiate with the rain. He knew the government was against us, a swamp, didn’t stop him from promising to make the sun stand still in spite of them at dozens of rallies. If he couldn’t deliver “on time and under budget” he shouldn’t have promised that he could.
As a side note, my dad was the first person in our line to go to college after growing up on one floor of a triple decker, went to war for our country, and worked his way up to a six figure income while raising a family. I wouldn’t say he should be tagged as someone who gives up easily. He simply recognizes that we’re just as disenfranchised now as we ever were and there’s not much point to investing in politics if we don’t even have national borders or the capacity to know how many people living in our country are even supposed to be here.
Excuse me for being demoralized. Our country is marching away from our values at an increasing speed and we can’t stop it. I don’t blame Trump for that, but he shouldn’t promise he can do anything about it if he can’t.
To: AmericanInTokyo
thank you for some sanity! I’m really getting ready to puke at a these Freeper “conservatives” bleeting along kissing Trump’s ass, regardless what he does. I voted for the man, I contributed to his campaign, I did what I could to get him elected, but, dammit; he may be “tired of winning” but I’m TIRED OF LOSING!
To: Portcall24Lawsuit as soon as they attempt to use to apportion representation. Any citizen in U.S. has standing.
(a) Illegals have always been counted for purposes of apportionment.
(b) The citizenship question has not been on the regular (short-form) census since 1950.
(c) Even under Trump’s now-abandoned plan, illegals who were counted in the census were going to be counted for purposes of apportionment; it was just hoped that some illegals wouldn’t fill out the form.
Well, well, well. Someone came right out and said it.
(d) The Constitution says that apportionment must be based on “counting the whole number of persons in each State.”

Sorry, I forgot we must worship Trump regardless of whether he delivers or not after promising the world.

Well, this was fun. Thanks, Tommy.
By the way – I searched for a thread about Pence’s half-hearted declaration that the concentration camps were nasty.
Not. One. Word.
I’m confident you intended, “I doubt that drooling kumtwat has control of his bladder.” 😉
Thanks. Corrected.
Rumor has it that The Darnold changes his own sheets in the WH.
Is he a bedwetter? Since childhood? With parental trauma associated?
It would be irresponsible not to speculate. Or to ask “when did you last wet the bed” at a presser.
Yeah, Dr. Freud is on vacation.
