If Basket of Deplorables Is Unacceptable…

…how about sack of shit?

On Monday, the right-wing youth organization Turning Point USA had an event during which founder Charlie Kirk took questions from members of the audience. At one point, a bearded man asked one, as seen in video obtained by Media Matters.

“At this point, we’re living under corporate and medical fascism. This is tyranny,” he said. “When do we get to use the guns?”

Members of the audience applauded.

“No, and I’m not — that’s not a joke,” he continued. “I’m not saying it like that. I mean, literally, where’s the line? How many elections are they going to steal before we kill these people?”

Kirk’s response was not, as you might hope, a strident rejection of the premise. He argued that an embrace of violence was what the left wanted, allowing for the creation of “Patriot Act 2.0.” (The original Patriot Act was not a project of the political left, as some will recall.) When the questioner asked “where the line” was, Kirk didn’t say that there was no line that would warrant the use of gun violence for political purposes, instead suggesting that the next step was for states to reject federalism.

It’s a fucking avalanche, or, to not mix metaphors, a garbage scow of shit sacks, any number of which are smoldering if not bursting into flames.

From Malakas of the Week to school board meetings to vicious threats against public officials to Statehouse riots to the January 6th Capitol riot (and spurious legal justifications) to Ted Cruz defending Nazi salutes on free speech grounds (sure, 1st Amendment, but would be nice to see a nominal if not enthusiastic disclaimer), etc.

Meanwhile, SineManchin on the Hill, when not on a yacht or out on a fundraising junket, bring home, name it, the gold medal, the Oscar (hell, the EGOT) for a tone deafness that would shame a fiddling Nero, watering down the Democratic agenda with a firehose…while the media can barely be bothered to more than note, almost in passing, that yeah, the GOP’s fully rejected small d democracy for a mutant business/evangelical merger led by an orange blob who’s…an utter failure in business and an amoral-when-not-immoral predatory supercreep (praise the Lord!).

Oh, and very likely a common crook and full service laundry for mobbed up cash from whatever source he can get his tiny, greedy hands and stubby little fingers on.

If the corporate media devoted even a fraction of the breathless frenzy to DJT’s personal AND business sleaze that they did to the Hillary Clinton email nothing burger…it wouldn’t change the mind of a single hard-core MAGAstani.

But it might uncover enough ugliness to sway people who haven’t been fully brainwashed by generations of tilting the playing field in the winger direction to preserve what’s left of the semblance of popular sovereignty.

And why do we even need to note that Trump, while popular with his base, isn’t popular with a majority of the public?

Aside: Democrats aren’t even allowed to effectively govern WITH a popular mandate. And I’m so old I remember when Karl Rove threatened — in 2000 — a shitstorm of lawsuits if Al Gore eked out an Electoral College win while losing the popular vote.

The media treats this as business as usual. Same with McConnell’s normalization of filibustering.

Carping about non-existent voter fraud should be dismissed on its face, and anyone pushing this lie should be shut out.

Idiots advocating violence should be investigated…and if it’s more than rhetoric, prosecuted…

Yeah, Faux News, Noisemax, and ONAN will give them oxygen, but the rest of the agenda setters should treat them with the contempt they’ve earned.

The goddamn house is on fire.

But the only conversation I keep hearing is who gets to control the TV remote…
