Even for her Nancy Mace has had some weird behavior over the last few weeks. For example, this disgusting nonsense:
A House hearing descended into chaos when MAGA firebrand Nancy Mace, a lawmaker from South Carolina, repeatedly shouted an anti-trans slur.
During a hearing of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, Mace listed off a slew of government expenditures, when Ranking Member Gerald Connolly took issue with her use of the word “t*****.’
“The gentlelady has used a phrase that is considered a slur in the LGBTQ community and the transgender community,” he said, before being interrupted by the GOP Representative.
“T*****, t*****, t*****. I don’t really care,” Mace exclaimed as Connolly asked her to let him finish.
“You want penises in women’s bathrooms, and I’m not going to have it,” she continued.
This seemed a magnitude worse than the usual shit she offers—stuff like this:
Nancy Mace, challenging Lauren Boebert for biggest idiot in the House of Representatives, criticizing research on "transgender" mice. The study was on TRANSGENIC mice.Transgenic is an organism or cell with foreign DNA from another species.

But on Monday night, Mace had a startling announcement on the House floor:
Rep. Nancy Mace (R-South Carolina) accused her ex-fiancé of physically abusing her and filming her without her consent, as well as conspiring with a “cabal” of business associates to sexually abuse women, in an extraordinary speech on the floor of the U.S. House.
In a nearly hour-long speech Monday evening, Mace said she was “going scorched earth” to “call out the cowards who think they can prey on women and get away with it.”
“Today I’m going to free myself from the monster who broke me. Today I’m going to free other women who fell prey to the same man,” she said.
Mace named her ex-fiancé Patrick Bryant and three other South Carolina men as “predators,” accusing them of drugging, raping and filming women without their consent, as well as sex-trafficking.
That’s a lot, and Mace is a victim of previous sexual assault. Her ex-fiance’s statement was:
Bryant did not immediately respond to a request for comment but told the Associated Press: “I categorically deny these allegations. I take this matter seriously and will cooperate fully with any necessary legal processes to clear my name.”
The Washington Post has not been able to independently verify Mace’s claims. A spokesperson for the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division confirmed the agency has had an active investigation focused on Bryant since 2023. “SLED opened an investigation regarding allegations of assault, harassment, and voyeurism on Dec. 14, 2023, after being contacted by the United States Capitol Police,” SLED spokesperson Renée Wunderlich said in a statement.
“Since that date SLED has conducted multiple interviews, served multiple search warrants, and has a well-documented case file that will be available for release upon the conclusion of the case,” Wunderlich said.
In detailing her allegations, Mace also accused South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson of not acting quickly enough to address them, claiming there were “deliberate delays” in evidence she had handed to state officials. Both Wilson and Mace are considering running for governor, the AP reported.
Wilson rejected Mace’s comments as “categorically false,” saying she either did not understand or was mischaracterizing his role. “Our office has not received any reports or requests for assistance from any law enforcement or prosecution agencies regarding these matters,” his office said in a statement, adding that Mace had Wilson’s number and that they had seen each other several times in recent months.
“The Attorney General and members of his office have had no role and no knowledge of these allegations until her public statements.”
I want to believe all women. But this seems like a convenient way to harm her likely primary opponent. And there are 2 other odd things.
One is that she did this on the House floor, where she is protected by the speech and debate clause. In fact, she invoked it afterward:
Ahead of the announcement, Mace shared details of the speech and a hotline she had established for victims. She said: “Any and all statements made by Members on the House Floor are quintessential ‘legislative acts,’ and protected by the Speech and Debate clause afforded under the Constitution of the United States.” Afterward, when asked about the allegations, a representative pointed to Mace’s Twitter account.
And yeah, there are problems with her “hotline”, too:
Mace began her speech on the House floor standing next to a giant pink poster with a South Carolina phone number advertising a “victim hotline.” The purpose of the number—whether it was for any victims of domestic or sexual violence, or only meant for people to share information related to her allegations—was unclear, and Mace’s spokesperson didn’t clarify when I asked. Nonetheless, Mace has continued to promote the number, sharing it across her social media channels and urging people to call (some of her posts suggest that many of the callers are from her district, and that they’re sharing information related to her case).

But when I called Mace’s hotline three different times—each time at least one hour apart—on Tuesday afternoon, it seemed to essentially be a glorified voicemail. Every time, the line rang repeatedly before ending with an automated message from Mace herself: “Hi, this is Congresswoman Nancy Mace, and you’ve reached our office victim hotline. Please note your information is confidential. Please leave a detailed message and we will contact you as soon as possible. You may also text us at this number.” Beep. (I did not leave a message, instead corresponding with her spokesperson through email.)
There are also other unaddressed issues including basic privacy issues, the danger of a hotline going unanswered or being staffed with untrained people, and it’s an attempt to work around federal regulations for hotlines like this.
I want to believe her, but based on this stuff, and her years-long history of straight up lying, it’s going to take some time. In the meantime, if she needs help, I hope she’s able to reach out for it.
