Cowherd said that Chris Rock and other comedians have suggested that stand-up on college campuses is increasingly difficult because of the level of political correctness, and Seinfeld — who has never been a particularly controversial comedian — said that he doesn’t play colleges. He says that he hears that college students — and the entire younger generation — are too politically correct.
Jerrers, you have one joke. It’s about being a sticky, obnoxious asshole who surrounds himself with other sticky, obnoxious assholes who have one joke each. Back when nobody had ever made a show like that before, it was surprising and therefore was mistaken by a lot of people for funny.
Now every third show is like that, and the young’uns are over it. Maybe you don’t play colleges because the Kids Today would be like, “Who?”
“Let me give you an example,” he says. “My wife says to [my 14-year-old daughter], ‘Well, you know, in the next couple of years, I think you’re going to want to be hanging around the city more on the weekends, so you can see boys.’
And you know what my daughter says? She says ‘that’s sexist.’
“They just want to use these words,” Seinfeld continued. “‘That’s racist. That’s sexist. That’s prejudice.’ They don’t know what the [bleep] they’re talking about.”
HOLY SHIT JERRY SEINFELD HAS DISCOVERED THAT TEENAGERS CAN BE IDIOTS! You don’t say! The earth is CAVING IN. Our civilization is DOOMED.
I seriously do not understand how political correctness is ruining comedy. Maybe it is ruining the ability of balding bro-bags to make some fratty cracks about bitches and get rich off it, but that is not a bad thing. Nor is deciding, when in college, to try to not be such a jerkoff all the time when dealing with historically marginalized populations. Political correctness has killed exactly nobody, and we cannot say the same for racism or sexism, so.
