Today on Tommy T’s Obsession with the Freeperati – Day of the dead hampster edition

Good morning, everyone – time to suit up and hit the iso chamber again and pry the tops of some reeking drums of freepitude. We’d probably better hurry, as the EPA has been sniffing around here lately, and I’m not exactly sure our permits are good for the kind of messes we’ve been uncovering of late.

I know you’ve all been curious how the Biden / Ryan debate live thread came out, so let’s get right to it.

Another miserable FR Live Thread failure.

Yet again, FR fails the big LIVE THREAD test.

How does what is supposed to be the premiere conservative site on the ‘net continue to fail?

I
would have expanded on this except it took forever to get this simple
post through the muck and molasses that we have to wade thru on night’s(sic)
like this

Why zot this? It’s a legit gripe and it would be nice to find out
if anything can be done about it. IMHO I think the cause is FR’s
popularity- more users than the servers can handle.

I have to ask this very seriously, do you know that this site has
been completely unusable to perhaps thousands and thousands of others
during either the first Presidential or Vice-Presidential debate and for
an hour or so after their respective conclusions?

This has never
happened in previous election cycles during debates, election night
results or during large breaking news events. Slow? Yes. Unusable, no.

I’ve
had multiple tabs opened for the debates this year and the FR one just
wheel spin, wheel spin, wheel spin… blank page, no progress bar moving
on the address bar. It’s just the internet equivalent of dead air for
hours.

If you’re getting this during a VP debate I fully expect this site to be dead and inaccessible from 6PM-4AM election night.

Update us would you? What’s going on?

I completely agree. This is ridiculous! I know it’s not politically
correct to say this around here, but at what point does the equipment
for this site get upgraded, or replaced?

I’ve already purposed that I won’t even waste my time coming here for the next presidential debate.

They weren’t tossed, they left.

Romney isn’t the first choice for
many of us, he is only a lesser evil. Many of us were doing all we could
do to get a real conservative nominated, others insisted on undermining
the effort, and they got called out on it, got their feelings hurt and
left.

We can be pretty sure of one thing, Romney’s choice of Paul
Ryan was the result of conservative efforts. Without that he may well
have picked someone far less conservative.

After Foisting Romney on Base, GOP Elites Now Start to Gripe

One of the most interesting aspects of the 2012 election is how the
tea party movement has proven more politically mature than the
center-right’s self-styled elites, and those who spent much of the
Republican primary season chiding swathes of people for being
insufficiently pragmatic have turned out to be far more childish than
the conservative base.

For the past several weeks, Mitt Romney
has been surrounded by critics from the DC-Manhattan elite who’ve
denounced him for a lackluster, unfocused campaign, teeing off on Team
Romney in the wake of the 47 percent comments for a number of issues—but
mostly, in my read, from failing to take their advice. Romney’s
defenders, meanwhile, have been many of the same individuals who spent
the primary season torching him in effigy as the encapsulation of
everything they hate about the Republican ruling class. For months the
elites bashed the base for failing to suck it up and see the big
picture, to line up for Romney and come on in for the big win. But they
got their wish!

The tea party movement—once again proving its
pragmatism once the general election season rolls around—lined up in the
immediate aftermath of the Paul Ryan pick and has proven they can grow
up. Professional concern troll David Frum, who spent most of the primary
season telling liberals why conservatives were never going to suck it
up and go for Romney, now seems very concerned that they have. Michelle
Malkin, who could be taking the wood to Romney on a daily basis for his
infidelity to the immigration hardline, has morphed into a loyal soldier
while Peggy Noonan is calling for Romney to bring in the 82-year-old
Jim Baker to rescue his campaign (yes, really). Ann Romney seems a bit
perturbed about this.

Isn’t it grand how folks who want others to do something find them
particularly insightful and ‘grown up’ when they capitulate and do it?

Backing Romney isn’t my idea of growing up. It’s my idea of selling out because you have very little alternative.

Yeah sure, they’re grown up, and have resigned themselves to seeing Romney dissect their nation rather than Obama.

I’m certainly not going to trash them for it. I’m certainly not going
to congratulate them for it either. This is something none of us are
going to be proud of.

Taking out Obama is going to be grand, but then reality sets in. My God, what a reality.

It was heartbreaking when Palin stood down. About the worst thing that could happen.

That said, I picked Romney once Palin stood down. With an
understanding that we would bail on Romney after one election cycle,
unless he picked a good VP.

Well it turns out he picked a good VP.

SO WHEN CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE VP?

Romney: Obama ‘Did Not’ Raise Taxes (who nominated this idiot?)

Paul Ryan stood by helplessly, and in apparent pain, as Mitt Romney
strayed from campaign talking points on President Obama’s tax record
during a joint “reset” rally today in Ohio.

In the midst of
remarks ridiculing the president’s handling of the economy, Romney said:
“I admit this, he has one thing he did not do in his first four years –
he’s said he’s going to do in the next four years, which is to raise
taxes.”

During the primaries, Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul
offered a very different view of the presidents record, when she told
the L.A. Times: “President Obama has raised taxes 19 times.”

Romney is NOT a fighter. If he was, there wouldn’t be a push right
now for him start fighting and acting as if he actually cares about this
election! He’s the typical MODERATE that was shoved into place by the
RNC and still thinks that elections are won by keeping your mouth shut
except to compliment your opponent as he slams you!

I continue to
wonder if the best thing for this Republic is for Obama to win – that’s
right, I said “win” – so that the RNC will finally be shown to be
completely inept and incompetent in picking candidates for our party and
therefore, seen as incapable of winning an election even against the
most evil and socialistic president this country has ever had. Perhaps
then – and only then – will the dumb incompetent moderates in our party
finally consider voting for a Newt or a Sarah.
