You may have heard that recently, Professional Cretin Stephen Miller told the world that he was very very very VERY upset that people were calling him and other Republicans “fascist.” My man was so very mad.
Well, the bad news for him is that Politico unearthed a lot of evidence that Republicans are indeed, at the very least, fascistically curious. Adrastos has the dirty details in his post earlier this week, where he runs down the group chats of “young” Republicans who express admiration for Hitler, call Black people all sorts of disgusting names, and fantasize about killing political opponents.
Which sounds kinda fascist. And I put “young” in quotes, because the age of the people involved were between 24 and 35, with three of the participants in Nazi Chat Time of undetermined age. This did not stop Fake Hillbilly Vice President JD Vance from declaring that, gosh darn it, kids say the craziest things.
Vance on public outrage over the "I love Hitler" group chat: "Grow up! Focus on the real issues. Don't focus on what kids say in group chats… The reality is that kids do stupid things, especially young boys — they tell edgy, offensive jokes. That's what kids do."
Vance’s defense did not stop at suggesting the participants were too young to take responsibility for their actions. He also implied they should not have to, casting members of the chat as unfairly victimized. Instead of saying he planned to warn his children not to use such vile language, for example, Vance said he would tell his three kids—“especially my boys”—“don’t put things on the internet. Be careful with what you post. If you put something in a group chat, assume that some scumbag is going to leak it in an effort to try to cause you harm or cause your family harm.”
If this sounds kind of familiar, it should. JD is running the PC out of control/cancel culture/woke playbook.
“PC out of control” was a far-right invention (Dinesh D’Souza was a primary driver) to replace communism after the wall fell as a boogeyman to smear anyone left of center. Then it became cancel culture and woke. The Reactionary Centrists practically rolled in it, and even Dems like James Carville helped to grow the hysteria. There is even a movie out now about it.
This created an ideal environment for this shit to fester (as I pointed out three years ago) and grow because it took shame and consequences out of the equation. It is not the use of the slur that’s bad; it is pointing it out and expecting contriteness and regret. That’s the Real Problem.
Why wouldn’t JD act this way? Why wouldn’t young GOPers sound like Hitler Youth? They’ll be at the Heritage Foundation and heading home to a nice McMansion in 10 years. If you bring up that they said these things, then you, my friend, are being ridiculous and petty and not accepting that they were just silly youngsters (even if 10 years from now at least one of them is 45 years old). Even if they express no regret whatsoever for what they said, we MUST always move on, no matter what.
Thanks to killing shame and consequences, we have party officials, including one state senator, feeling comfortable enough to text hatred of Black people, LGBTQ+, etc., and thoughts of violence against political opponents to each other. Not great!
The last word goes to Childish Gambino.
