Tiny Dancer

The featured image comes from Cameron Crowe’s  2000 movie, Almost Famous. It’s perhaps the best film set in a rock and roll milieu. One of the highlights is the tour bus singalong to this week’s tune. How they managed it without a bouncing ball is beyond me.

Elton John and Bernie Taupin wrote Tiny Dancer for the 1971 album, Madman Across The Water. The title track has nothing to do with Trump’s China trip but he qualifies as a madman across the water. Oy, just oy.

We begin with the scene from Almost Famous:

Elton John. Say no more.

I was surprised how much I liked Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers when he appeared on Finding Your Roots. I like this unruly and wild version of Tiny Dancer as well.

Ben Folds makes his FCH debut with this live cover of the John-Taupin classic.

Let’s get mechanical with Florence + The Machine:

Finally, the songwriter goes symphonic:

What would the Friday Cocktail Hour be without an instrumental version of the week’s tune? This time, the Vitamin String Quartet.

That’s it for this week. Let’s drink to all the dancers out there. It’s what Fred and Rita would want. Never argue with them.
